You may have seen just how popular TikTok has become and are questioning whether its a good platform for your business?

If you’re new to TikTok and want to find out more about what it is and how you can make the most of its engagement opportunities, read on!

What is TikTok?

TikTok is a social media platform that shares both long and short-term videos about any topic.

TikTok is one of the top apps in 2022. Did you know that 167 million videos are watched on TikTok in a single minute?

One of the best things about TikTok is it's algorithm. It somehow knows exactly what you want to see shortly after you start using the app. I know that every time I open the app, I will be happy with most of the videos on my feed. It does this by observing what you like, spend the most time watching, and scroll back to see again.

As a consumer, TikTok is awesome. You’ll receive videos that you love on your feed, just a thumb-scroll away. However as a creator, getting your video seen by the right audience can be difficult. To do so, you need to understand how it works, and make the most of the engagement touch points, such as comments, likes, saves and shares.

Of course, for people to want to do this, your content needs to provide value. This could be in terms of entertainment or educational, and allow the audience to build a relationship with you.

By having engagement on your videos, it helps TikTok understand that your content is worth showing off to a wider audience.

To help generate more TikTok comments, check out these tips:

5 Tips to drive engagement with TikTok comments

1. Ask the audience relevant questions

Asking a relevant question that has to do with the content from your video is always a good way to go. When choosing a question, make sure to pick one that is simple and quick to answer. This will encourage engagement from the audience to comment their answer.

2. Reply back to your audience!

If you receive a comment on your video, don’t ignore it, make sure to reply. Especially if the audience is asking questions about your video, as they are genuinely interested in something they’ve watched.

3. Comment on other videos (that relate to you, or if it’s a trending video)

While the goal is to get people to comment on your videos, it's always a good idea to engage with other brands as well. This gets your name out there and will increase the chance of users coming across your profile.

4. Utilise trends to explore company culture

Trending audios and effects allow your content to reach more screens. Show off that amazing company culture you have. By showing faces behind brands, you enable the audience to build relationships with the brand itself, due to the people there.

5. Encourage your audience to share their opinion

For example - if you created a TikTok video of your favourite keyboard trick, you could use the prompt "Tell us your favourite keyboard tricks in the comments". Not only do you then encourage the audience to engage with you, but you’re now providing value to the audience, as they are learning something. They may see this content and think your page is good enough to follow for more.
