In a new regular series, ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’, Digital Services Manager, Mark Tuxford meets up with members of the Making Websites Better roster talking to them about their time at the company so far in a Q&A style format, enabling you to get to know the team a little better, whilst putting a name to a friendly face assisting with your business presence online.
Next up is the man that makes it all happen. Making Websites Better, Founder and Managing Director, Paul Warren.
Paul formed the company in 2019, after initially growing tired of digital agencies not holding to the values that he holds so dear. It soon becomes clear when you meet Paul for the first time that these values make up his overall persona: passionate, smart-thinking and honest approach to work and life.
Paul used his talent and experience to ensure Making Websites Better quickly became a leading digital agency in the online world. Building a successful printing company and a previous role as a Graphic Designer earlier in his career, enabled him to marry these skills together and create the agency that clients can trust and depend on which ultimately makes up the overall backbone of the organisation.
While he admits that academically he struggled at school, the entrepreneurial flare bubbled underneath the surface. He simply could not wait to get out into the big wide world of business.
Paul differs hugely from many business owners. He prides himself on cultural aspects of building a business brand that other people admire and look up to. In addition to creating change in an industry through example and helping like-minded people along the way to reach their potential, often giving him more satisfaction than financial reward.
The team thoroughly enjoys working together under his stewardship. Paul goes out of his way to give someone a chance and breed positivity and happiness behind the scenes. His processes allow MWB to work with fantastic clients that continue to receive the highest possible service, while constantly striving to ensure the company remains a digital leader in this modern industry producing success for all involved.

What’s the best thing about working at MWB?
“I love helping people to reach their potential online! I get to do that with the support of my amazing team who are all working to reach their potential too.”
How do you like to unwind in your spare time after a busy week at work?
“I love spending time with my young kids to take my mind away from work pressures and my average 80 hour work week. I also watch the odd Arsenal game.”

“Creative, Driven, Honest.”
What is your passion in life?
“Helping people to reach people’s potential. whether that's our client's brands, our staff's skills, my personal development, the charities I support, my children's lives, my friends careers etc - I live and breath our agencies motto of “We Rise by Lifting Others”
Is there a specific experience in life that always stayed with you, changed your outlook or made you more motivated to succeed?
"I have more than one. In fact I have three major milestones that gave me the drive I have today:"
My school teachers told me that I would amount to nothing, as did my Father sadly, but my Grandmother supported me in my teens to believe in myself. I ended up doing ok for myself in the end down to the support that I was given.
When I was an apprentice I saw so many things that were wrong about the way that my boss ran their business. I swore to myself that I would own my own business, delivering a good service for my customers based on total openness and honesty and treating my staff with the same respect.
My sister passing away in 2019 gave me a totally new perspective on life, as I find myself questioning every excuse I have for not to do something when someone I was so close to lost her life so young. What right do I have to refuse to do something now - I try to push myself to do what is needed without excuse.
What is your proudest achievement?
“In life; my kids. They are my proudest achievement to date!
In my career; winning an industry recognition award for contribution to the printing industry whilst still in my 20’s - an award normally give to those in their 60’s. In business; for building an agency with a great team and strong values.”
Who was your role model/hero growing up?
“Again, I have more than one role model or hero. My grandmother; Grace, who saved me from myself when I was younger. My Sister; who never complained about how epilepsy destroyed her life until her last day - She never once moaned about why she couldn't live her life like her friends, couldn't have kids, drive, hold a normal job and so on and was the happiest person you could ever meet.
Muhammad Ali; he changed my perception of sports impacting culture.
Arsene Wenger; he built the modern era of the football club I love; Arsenal.”
Where is your favourite place in the world?
“Capo Bay, protaras in Cyprus where I married my soulmate. Another favourite place would have to be Arsenal’s old ground, Highbury.”
What is the one thing you could not go a day without?
"My phone or any Apple device.”
What is your favourite song?
“Too many to pick from. I like listening to a bit of Kings of Leon, Oasis and James Arthur. I am also a fan of 90’s Garage too…”
What is your favourite Film/TV programme?
“Some of my favourite films are Star Wars, Good Will Hunting and The Godfather.”
What are your favourite food and drink choices?
“Foodwise I enjoy anything Italian or a Thai Green Curry.”
What would you say is your hidden talent?
“I am pretty terrible at all the sports I love, so it's hard to say…”
What is your biggest phobia?
“Scorpions. No idea why!”
What is your favourite motivational quote?
“Be the change that you want to see in the world.”
What would be top of your bucket list?
“Taking a few months out to visit Thailand, Cambodia and Australia.”
If you won well over £1,000,000 on the lottery, what would you spend your winnings on?
“I would probably buy my family home and then invest the rest into business.”
