In a new regular series, ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’, Digital Services Manager, Mark Tuxford meets up with members of the Making Websites Better roster talking to them about their time at the company so far in a Q&A style format, enabling you to get to know the team a little better whilst putting a name to a friendly face assisting with your business presence online.

Next up, the one and only, Richard Downham our Business Development Manager.

Richard joined the company in October 2020 having known Paul Warren for a number of years after collaborating on past several projects. Richard’s background has seen him progress through the graphic communication industry, giving him a wide-ranging understanding of how businesses work and communicate effectively.

While Richard’s business development role enables him to spread the word and promote our bespoke website and digital marketing processes on a regular basis, he is incredibly passionate about establishing new long-lasting relationships and helping clients and their businesses become a success online.

Richard’s thought process is tapping into company’s pinch points, making their business lives a lot easier. Talking of which, let’s find out more about Richard personally and see what makes him tick with a Q&A session...

What’s the best thing about working at MWB?
“Being a part of a forward thinking and passionate team. It’s refreshing to experience a team with so much love for what they do.”

How do you like to unwind in your spare time after a busy week at work
“Mountain biking is my go to therapy.”

THREE words that describe your personality
“Determined, passionate, sincere.”

What is your passion in life?
”Just to enjoy it - I try to make the most of it in and outside of work.”

Is there a specific experience in life that always stayed with you, changed your outlook or made you more motivated to succeed?
”That’s a tough one, I’m sure there have been quite a few. I think one of the biggest changes occurred when I was thrown into account managing some key accounts at quite a young age. Scared me half to death being responsible for two of that company’s key customers but a fantastic insight into businesses and people.”

What is your proudest achievement?
“It has to be my Daughter.”

Who was your role model/hero growing up?
”Not sure I really had one.”

Where is your favourite place in the world?
“Has to be the Surrey Hills, especially in Autumn.”

What is the one thing you could not go a day without?
“Coffee of course!”

What is your favourite song?
“Wow, only one… that's almost impossible! It changes all the time but I feel happiest listening to The Cat Empire.”

What is your favourite Film/TV programme?
“Man on fire or Game of Thrones.”

What are your favourite food and drink choices?
“So many favorites. I love to drink red wine or rum. Regarding food choice you can’t beat fish and chips by the sea!”

What would you say is your hidden talent?
“I can make a champion omelette apparently!”

What is your biggest phobia?
“Heights!”

What is your favourite motivational quote?
“Don’t sweat the small stuff.”

What would be top of your bucket list?
“At the moment it would be traveling around the highlands of Scotland.”

If you won well over £1,000,000 on the lottery, what would you spend your winnings on?
“A new bike would be first on the list, that’s for sure. Other than that it would be great holidays with the family.”

Finally, if you hosted a dinner party, who would be your chosen FIVE guests (dead or alive) and WHY?

Nelson Mandela - I would love to hear about what he endured in his lifetime.

Winston Churchill - I think he would be entertaining and have some good stories - minus the cigar of course!

Carrol Shelby - I have always been inspired by this guy and the way he beat Ferrari in Le Mans.

Tim Vine - who doesn’t love a dad joke… right?

Nostradamus - for next week's lottery numbers!
